Senegal is accelerating the deployment of ICT to healthcare access across the country.
On Thursday January 17, 2019, the government undertook the implementation of the Strategic Digital Health Plan (PSSD) 2018-2023.
The PSSD was developed to frame and harmoniously develop the use of ICTs to “drive and promote access to quality care, promote prevention and management of health risk through wider dissemination of information on health, strengthen the performance of health personnel through the optimal use of ICT, improve health governance through the availability of quality and secure information, “ said Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, Minister of Health and Actionat the 7th edition of the conference cycle called “Digital Tuesdays”.
The roll out of the PSSD is in three phases. The first was to run throughout 2018 and focused on the promotion and popularization of the plan. This phase 1 also included, inter alia, the establishment of internal and intersectoral governance bodies, the finalization of action plans and monitoring and evaluation over 5 years.
From 2019, the Strategic Plan enters its second phase, which focuses on the implementation of major major projects.
The third phase, which is the final phase, will begin in 2022. Phase 3 will focus on the continuation, consolidation and evaluation of the actions undertaken since 2019.
