Tunisia’s acting Minister of Health Sonia Ben Cheikh has announced the investment of 80 million Tunisian dinars (23.6 million euros) for the modernization of the computer system of Tunisian hospitals.
This operation, which will allow, among other things, the digitization of the medical file in public hospitals, a better follow-up of the patients, a better management of the laboratories, will contribute to the advent of the telemedicine whose first phase is announced for this month of April 2019 .
The Rabta Hospital, the regional hospitals of Jendouba and Tozeur, the Trauma and Burn Center at Ben Arous, the Habib Thameur Hospital, were chosen as the first implementation sites.
According to the minister, “the system of making remote appointments will be operational during the month of April, in 12 public hospitals, and will extend to all hospitals from July 2019” . 600 basic health centers will also benefit from the IT infrastructure in 2019 so that they can also offer telemedicine services.
Over the 2020-2021 period, an additional 15 million Tunisian dinars (4.4 million euros) will be invested to provide all health facilities in the country with the IT infrastructure that will make telemedicine possible and bring health services closer to health. populations.
